Five Treehouse Getaways Across the United States

Did you know there are treehouse resorts all over the United States? One of our favorite things about staying in the trees is how enchanting it feels to sleep in the canopy. You wake up close to the birds, surrounded by branches and nature. We wanted to share some of our favorite whimsical treehouse escapes so you can experience a little of that magic, too!

Designed and built by Pete Nelson and the talented team at Nelson Treehouse and Supply, these five destinations each offer their own take on a treetop getaway. Whether you’re dreaming of a romantic weekend, a cozy cabin in the woods, or a place to gather with family, there’s a treehouse waiting for you.

Treehouse Point | Fall City, Washington

Just 30 minutes east of Seattle, tucked into the lush Snoqualmie Valley, you’ll find Treehouse Point, Pete and Judy Nelson’s original treehouse retreat. Established in 2006, this woodland bed and breakfast is home to seven iconic treehouses, each with its own story and character.

Spend your days wandering the grounds, listening to the Raging River, or warming up beside the fireplace in the Lodge. Each morning begins with a complimentary breakfast, with delicious pastries and sweets prepared by Treehouse Kitchen. And when evening settles over the forest, gather around the outdoor fire pit with other guests for complimentary s’mores.

Beyond the seven treehouses, Treehouse Point offers three additional one-of-a-kind stays: LoveBomb, an upcycled army truck, the secluded Hideaway cabin, and the Cedar Suite. Whether you’re planning a romantic escape or simply hoping to slow down for a while, this little corner of the Pacific Northwest makes it easy to feel worlds away.

Treehouse Grove | Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Deep in the Great Smoky Mountains, Treehouse Grove brings a little forest magic to the heart of Tennessee. Designed by Pete Nelson and built by the Nelson Treehouse and Supply team, this treehouse resort is made for reconnecting with nature and the people you love.

With 16 treehouses across its original creekside and Mountain View collections, Treehouse Grove offers a variety of spaces for couples, families, and groups of friends. Depending on your treehouse, you might wake up to mountain views, enjoy your morning coffee on a screened porch, or spend the afternoon listening to the nearby creek.

Outside, three communal hot tubs, fire pits perfect for s’mores, and a barbecue area invite you to spend time with fellow treehouse guests. The best part? All treehouses are dog-friendly! Bring your furry friend with you to nearby hiking trails, the dog park, and even some nearby dog-friendly dining establishments!

Whether you spend your days exploring the Smokies or stay tucked away among the trees, Treehouse Grove is a wonderful place to settle into the slower rhythm of the mountains.

The Woods Maine | Norway, Maine

On the other side of the country, The Woods Maine offers a different kind of treehouse escape, one rooted in the beauty of New England. Designed by Pete Nelson and built by Nelson Treehouse and Supply in 2019, this elevated two-bedroom, two-bathroom home combines the feeling of a secluded woodland retreat with the comforts of a luxury getaway.

There’s plenty to explore beyond the treehouse, too. Depending on the season, nearby adventures include hiking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, skiing, and fat biking. Or you can spend your days by the lake and enjoy the stillness.

With room for two to four guests, The Woods Maine is a lovely choice for a couple’s retreat, a small family getaway, or a few days away with friends.
