Autumn Elopement Throwback at Treehouse Point

We’re throwing it back to a fall elopement favorite from 2017! Samantha and Matthew’s celebration at Treehouse Point brought out the B&B’s moody and atmospheric qualities. Their intimate ceremony was draped in sultry autumnal colors that contrasted beautifully with the blue family tartan on Matthew’s kilt.

As a teen, Matthew moved from Scotland to Washington State with his family—it was important to him to integrate his Scottish roots into his wedding ceremony. The couple’s inclusion of an array of special, sentimental details (from Matthew’s grandfather’s belt buckle to a Twin Peaks-themed van) made their elopement a distinctive expression of their individual and shared interests.

Read on for details on Samantha and Matthew’s enchanting elopement…

All Photos by Luma Weddings Photography.

Samantha and Matthew met online – it only took one date to convince Samantha that Matthew was something special. Samantha proposed to Matthew – the story is incredible! Samantha works as a hairstylist and was speaking with a client one day who explained that she had proposed marriage to her husband. This client’s story hooked Samantha, inspiring her to propose to Matthew. In Samantha’s words, “I’m pretty shy and don’t tend to do that kind of thing – but it was just this flash of inspiration. I knew I could do it, but only if I did so within the next two hours or so, while I still had the confidence.”

Samantha left work, stopped to purchase a chef’s knife as a proposal gift for Matthew (who had worked as a chef), swung by a craft store to get wrapping materials, and headed home. She wrapped the gift and realized she needed to write down her proposal, as she was concerned she would be unable to verbally articulate all her feelings. When Matthew came home, Samantha handed him the box – to which he responded, “But it’s not my birthday!” Upon opening the gift and reading the note, Matthew immediately said “yes.” The couple still has Samantha’s proposal note to this day!

Matthew dressed in full Scottish regalia for the ceremony. He ordered his custom-made kilt (with his family’s tartan) through Claymore Imports. Matthew also incorporated some of his grandfather’s items into his outfit, including his belt buckle and knife.

Samantha and Matthew knew they wanted an elopement to streamline the planning process and keep their special day as stress-free as possible. In all, their elopement included eleven guests (and their dog, Furnace, who played the role of ring bearer). Here, Samantha gets ready in the Cedar room of the main Lodge.

The couple stayed two nights in The Burl treehouse (pictured above). One of the nights was Halloween – they spent it hunkered down in The Burl, binge-watching Stranger Things. Matthew and Samantha love the spooky, playful vibe of Halloween season and were thrilled to get married at that time of year.

The couple hosted their ceremony in the Pond Room. The cedar-lined space opens beautifully to the forest. Matthew’s cousin is a professional trombonist and performed a song from Twin Peaks as the opening to the ceremony (Matthew and Samantha are avid fans of the surrealist, ’90’s TV series).

Samantha made the four-foot-long, braided ribbon for the ceremony – connecting a couple’s hands with a braided ribbon is an ancient Celtic wedding tradition. The couple also made their own wedding rings by hand at With These Rings studio in Port Townsend, Washington. This unique jewelry studio lets couples customize their rings with 100% recycled metals sourced from a US-based refinery.

Down to Earth created the luscious floral arrangements on the arbor.

Matthew’s parents, Donald and Alison (pictured on left, above), are the owners of the Beehive Treehouse, built by Pete and the crew in 2014. The Beehive inspired Matthew to look into Treehouse Point as a venue; in his words, “Samantha and I always loved my parents’ treehouse – the hammocks inside [the Beehive] are amazing. Just knowing that there were treehouses at Treehouse Point was enough to convince us that it would be a fantastic place to get married. It’s also a really great environment – everyone there was so friendly.”

A week before the elopement, Matthew decided he wanted to give his own vows to Samantha – the couple had originally decided against penning their own statements. Matthew’s words at the ceremony blew Samantha away: “It was definitely one of the most amazing things anyone has ever said to me. I will never forget that moment.”

Thank you for hosting your thoughtful elopement at TreeHouse Point, Samantha and Matthew! We wish you a lifetime of happiness.

Yes! If you’re looking to catch sight of our treehouses, but can’t stay the night, we have the perfect offering for you.

Every month, our team puts together several property tours, where guests are guided through Treehouse Point by a knowledgeable tour guide.

As you wander the trees with an expert guide, you'll get the opportunity to view all seven treehouses, the additional accommodations, and ask questions about their design, construction, and history.

The tours will happen rain or shine, so make sure to bring sunscreen or a rain jacket!

How Do I book a tour?

Tour tickets become available online at 2 p.m. PT on the first Tuesday of the month prior to the month you’d like to visit. Tours are open to all ages, but we strongly recommend the tour for ages 4 and above. Children ages 5 and under may attend free of charge and do not require a purchased ticket.

Through his company, Nelson Treehouse and Supply, Pete has designed and built hundreds of treehouses around the world, inspiring people to reconnect with nature through elevated living. Alongside his wife, Judy, he transformed this riverside forest into the cozy treehouse retreat guests know and love today.

On rare occasions, we offer a Private Tour with Pete Package, where guests are guided through Treehouse Point by the man who brought it to life. Available exclusively to our email subscribers, this highly anticipated experience sells out quickly each time it is released.

With the construction of Treehouse Kitchen underway, we’re hopefull to add an even more unique experience to future packages.

Things to do nearby in the Snoqualmie Valley

Looking for unique things to do near Seattle before and after your tour? Treehouse Point is located just 22 miles east of Seattle, making it an easy day trip for visitors exploring the Pacific Northwest. Pair your tour with a visit to Snoqualmie Falls, a local winery, or lunch in historic downtown Snoqualmie for a memorable day in the valley.

Snoqualmie:

Snoqualmie is a place built for the cover of postcards. From the towering Snoqualmie Falls waterfall 270 feet  above the river below, to the Historic Downtown with a railway station, Snoqualmie is a place you don’t want to miss out on. Afterward seeing the falls, head on over to the Historic Downtown Snoqualmie for some delicious wine at Sigillo’s or up to the Ridge for some comfort food and live music at Saints and Scholars Irish Pub.

Fall City:

Experience small-town charm when visiting Fall City, our closest neighbors and long time friends.

As you walk along the main street, weave in and out of the unique markets, second-hand stores, and restaurants. One of our personal favorite spots is Aroma Coffee Co, where you can order some delicious specialty coffee made with syrup crafted by Chef Manny, and soon-to-be pastries and savory items from Treehouse Kitchen. Our favorite way to spend the afternoon is sipping a drink from the balcony of Pete’s Treefort.

No visit to Fall City would be complete without a stop at Moo Ice Cream. With its cow-print exterior and giant cow perched on the roof, it's nearly impossible to miss! The ice cream is just as memorable as the building itself.

Wedding Venue Open House Gallery | Guide to Treehouse Point Weddings

Ever wonder what it’s like to get married at Treehouse Point? On April 29th, we held our first-ever Wedding Venue Open House, where guests were invited to wander through our property, step inside treehouses, and see the Treehouse Point adorned in florals to imagine their special day. Today, we’re taking you behind the scenes of the event and sharing what a wedding weekend at Treehouse Point can truly feel like.

We held our first-ever Wedding Venue Open House at Treehouse Point, and it was a smashing success! On April 29th, guests were invited to wander through our property, step inside treehouses, and see the Treehouse Point adorned in florals to imagine their special day.

To make the experience even more special, our preferred vendors created booths showcasing their work, while our team transformed some of Treehouse Point's most beloved wedding spaces into celebration-ready scenes.

Throughout the day, couples shared that seeing the venue decorated in person was even more magical than photos could ever capture. We’re thrilled at the prospect of putting on another Open House in 2027 to show more people the magic of weddings at Treehouse Point!

Who We Are

For those who are new here, Treehouse Point is a bed and breakfast tucked into the lush forests of the Snoqualmie Valley. Couples from around the world gather here to exchange vows among the trees and celebrate with their closest family and friends in a setting that feels like fantasy.

When we’re not hosting weddings, elopements, and retreats, we’re welcoming guests to stay a night (or two, or three) in the trees. Guests can book their treehouse stay here.

Throughout this blog, we’ll take you on a behind the scenes journey through the Open House experience, following the same path that guests took as they explored the property. Along the way, we’ll share some details about weddings at Treehouse Point and what they can look like, including what our all inclusive packages look like.

If you’re dreaming of an intimate forest wedding surrounded by treehouses, greenery, and a rushing river… keep reading.

Shuttle Service to Treehouse Point

The journey begins not at Treehouse Point, but at the Preston Park and Ride, less than 5 minutes away. Due to the intimate nature of our venue, the parking lot has a limited capacity for vehicles. Often, couples will hire an ongoing shuttle service for their wedding guests. This fee is included in 2027 wedding packages (excluding micro-wedding and elopement packages).

After arriving via shuttle from the Preston Park and Ride, guests were greeted with a map of the property, a champagne flute, and goodie bags.

Touring the Treehouses

Couples were invited to explore each treehouse and imagine how their friends and family might enjoy a wedding weekend at Treehouse Point. Weddings at Treehouse Point are intimate, usually between 20 and 80 people - and lodging can accommodate up to 22 people total.

Learn more about our wedding packages here.

The Pond Room:

After exploring the forest, guests stepped into the Pond Room, where cocktail hour and dancing is held for weddings. Attendees were greeted by a beautifully styled dinner table where they could envision their feast taking place.

Party music from our preferred DJ Magnolia Rhapsody played through the speakers, keeping the energy elevated and in good spirits. Some elopement and small wedding couples opt to have their wedding ceremony take place in the Pond Room.

More information about Treehouse Point elopements here.

Delicious catering from Treehouse Kitchen

Bites from Treehouse Kitchen, our preferred vendor for wedding catering, were served as guests mingled. Treehouse Kitchen was founded by members of the Treehouse Point and Nelson Treehouse family, and was created to bring elevated food, rooted in community to guests and wedding celebrations alike.

Throughout the Open House, guests also had the opportunity to learn more about our Inclusive Wedding Packages and how they simplify the wedding planning experience. Treehouse Kitchen offers a curated dining experience, with menu options designed to complement a celebration in the trees. The package includes one entrée, two sides, one salad, and up to three small bite selections.

Beyond catering, we work with our trusted partner One Boss Hospitality to make your inclusive wedding as stress-free as possible. No more worrying about timelines and setup. From florals and rentals to bartending, shuttles, coordination, and service staff, many of the details are thoughtfully handled for you, creating a smoother and more relaxing wedding experience.

Inquire about our inclusive wedding packages here.

Under the Tent Deck

Further along the path, guests arrived at the Tent Deck, one of our most popular dinner locations. The Petal & The Stem transformed the space with lush tropical greenery and a styled tablescape, helping couples envision their dreamy dinner surrounded by friends, family, and nature.

The Lower Lawn

The final stop was the Lower Lawn, where couples exchange vows. Styled for a ceremony, the space allowed guests to imagine walking down the aisle, saying "I do," and beginning their next chapter together in the heart of the forest. We also had our interactive experience vendors on the lower lawn, including a wedding painter and flavored cotton candy cart!

Our Preferred Vendors

We were thrilled to have several of our preferred vendors join us for the Open House and showcase their work. These talented professionals help bring Treehouse Point weddings to life.

The biggest soccer tournament in the world is coming to Seattle this summer, and you may be wondering what to do around the area in between games. The Pacific Northwest is packed with unforgettable experiences from small town coffeeshops and scenic hiking trails to iconic city adventures… Where do you even start?

Seattle Must-Sees

Seattle is Washington State’s largest city, brimming with cafés, museums, waterfront views, and vibrant neighborhoods. Since Treehouse Point is just a short drive away, it’s easy to spend a full day exploring the city before retreating back to the trees.

If you’re driving into Seattle from the east side (where Treehouse Point is located) you’ll cross Lake Washington via I-90.

The I-90 floating bridges actually once held the world record as longest floating bridges in the world, before being surpassed by the SR 520 Evergreen Point Floating Bridge, which crosses over the same lake, just a few miles north! It’s amazing that the three longest floating bridges in the world all connect to Seattle.

Want to see both? Take I-90 into the city, then head back across Lake Washington on SR 520 for a scenic alternate route.

Pike Place Market

Pike Place Market is one of Seattle’s most iconic destinations, and is one of the longest operating public markets in United States history. It’s vibrant and bustling with farmers markets, crafters stands, flower vendors, restaurants, and countless small businesses! This market is one of the longest operating public markets in United States history.

While you’re at Pike Place, stop by the famous Pike Place Fish Market to witness the legendary fish tossing tradition that’s entertained visitors for decades.

After wandering through the market, pop in a stick of gum and head down the stairs to visit Seattle’s famous Gum Wall. The wall is packed full of brightly colored gum. It’s unexpectedly gorgeous… as long as you don’t think too hard about how the gum got there.

Space Needle

If you’ve ever searched “Seattle,” chances are you’ve seen pictures of the Space Needle piercing the sky. Built for the 1962 World’s Fair, the tower has become one of the most recognizable landmarks of Washington State. Designed around the fair’s futuristic “Living in the Space Age” theme, even the paint colors reflected the excitement over space travel, with names like “Astronaut White,” “Orbital Olive,” and “Galaxy Gold.”

Guests can ride the elevator to the observation deck for views of the Seattle skyline, Puget Sound, and Mount Rainier.

Alki Beach

Spend the afternoon soaking up the sun at Alki Beach in West Seattle. This laid-back waterfront stretch is perfect for beach volleyball, biking, walking along the shore, or grabbing a bowl of clam chowder with a view of the Seattle skyline.

You can even have a bonfire with friends at the beach. “Beach fire season” spans from from May 22-Sept. 7.

Seattle Underground Tour

Seattle has an entire hidden city beneath its streets. As someone who has lived in the area my whole life, I only recently went on an Underground Tour. It ended up being one of the most fascinating tours I’ve ever experienced. Seeing what “old” Seattle looked like beneath the modern city was incredible, and learning how and why Seattle was literally rebuilt on top of itself blew my mind. I’d definitely recommend the Underground Tour if you have the time.

More Seattle Favorites

Other Seattle highlights worth adding to your itinerary include:

Around the Valley

If you’re heading east toward the mountains, there’s plenty to explore beyond Seattle as well. Treehouse Point is located in a forest next to the Raging River, and just a 5 minute drive from Fall City. On your way to Snoqualmie Falls, make a pit stop in Fall City for coffee, pastries, and small-town charm.

Photo of Temple at Treehouse Point by Claymore MacTarnaghan.

Fall City

Fall City is so small that it’s technically a village, but don’t underestimate the beauty and small businesses that calls this quaint area home. Fall City overflowing with unique hidden gems.

  1. Treehouse Kitchen: One of our favorites is Treehouse Kitchen, created by our Head Chef Manny Rodriguez and General Manager Abbey. This dream project brings elevated ready-to-heat meals, pastries, and locally inspired flavors to the heart of the Snoqualmie Valley. Coming soon!

  2. Aroma Coffee Co: Make sure to stop by Aroma Coffee Co for a delicious specialty coffee in the trees! Syrups are house-made by Chef Manny and their coffee is designed custom from Camber Coffee in Bellingham. Some Treehouse Kitchen pastries and meals will soon be available there as well.

  3. Pete’s Treefort:  See the magical Pete’s Treefort donated to Fall City by Pete Nelson on Treehouse Kitchen and Aroma Coffee Co’s shared property!

Snoqualmie Falls

Snoqualmie Falls is one of Washington’s most iconic landmarks and an absolute must-see for first-time visitors. The waterfall plunges 270 feet into the Snoqualmie River below and features scenic upper and lower viewing areas. Parking is free at both the Upper and Lower viewing lots. Drive down to the second viewing area from the top, or hike down the 0.7 mile trail.

Whether you stop for a quick photo or spend time hiking the trail, the falls are especially beautiful during the summer months.

Nearby HIKING

Looking to stretch your legs inbetween games? The Snoqualmie Valley and Greater Snoqualmie Area offer some incredible hiking opportunities:

  • Mount Si — a challenging but rewarding hike with panoramic summit views

  • Little Si — a shorter, more beginner-friendly alternative

  • Snow Lake — one of our favorite alpine lake hikes, located about 35 minutes from Treehouse Point

Photo of Burl at Treehouse Point by Claymore MacTarnaghan.

Issaquah Must-Sees

As you venture out of the Valley, you don’t have to go far to find one of our favorite spots: Issaquah, Washington. Enjoy some delicious grub at Black Duck Cask and Bottle, and then set out to explore the wilderness. Who knows… you may even stumble upon a troll.

Jakob Two Trees

Tucked in the forest is something quite surprising. As you explore Issaquah, you may find yourself wandering the paved Rainier trail and coming face to face with a troll! This 14 foot troll is named Jakob Two Trees, and was made by Thomas Dambo and his team in 2023 from recycled materials.

There are five other trolls made by Thomas Dambo in the Pacific Northwest. They live in Bainbridge Island, Ballard, Seattle, Portland, Vashon Island and West Seattle! These all fall under the theme of “Way of the Bird King.“

Pete even went to Thomas Dambo’s studio, just outside of Copenhagen!

Hang Out at Lake Sammamish

Spend time by the water at Lake Sammamish. Enjoy biking or walking the paved trails, or spend a leisurely day kayaking, canoeing, or renting a pedal boat on the peaceful lake!

Back to the Trees

Whether you’re here for the matches, the mountains, or simply a summer escape, Seattle and the surrounding areas offer endless ways to experience the Pacific Northwest. And at the end of the day, you can return to our quiet treehouse forest, fall asleep in the trees, and wake up feeling refreshed.
